Complex Surgical Intervention for Small Bowel Obstruction Secondary to Metastatic Colorectal Cancer

Small bowel obstruction (SBO) refers to the inability of contents pass through lumen small intestine. This is a common surgical emergency in United States. Although intra-abdominal adhesions are predominant cause, SBO can occur secondarily various etiologies, be it one cause or several. Management secondary and metastasized rectal adenocarcinoma, complicated by pulmonary, hepatic, ureteral disease, highlights criticality multidisciplinary approach. We present case 59-year-old male with adenocarcinoma. Treatment included resection, acute stabilization, referral for outpatient follow-up, oncologic management.
